Automatic migration is scheduled for 4 September 2026.
1. Why this change ?
There were three reasons why we decided to review our payment policies:
Regulatory developments: These developments, combined with improvements to our banking infrastructure, now enable us to simplify our offering and clarify the risks associated with initiating payments.
Cost parity: Since January 2025, Instant Transfer and SEPA have cost the same. Routing based on cost savings is no longer relevant.
Simplification of the service offering: you will now have access to three payment policies and two confirmation levels, which you will soon be able to configure yourself via your back office.
2. Three new payment policies
Policy | How it works | Use Case |
Instant ⚡ | Instant Transfer only. Banks without instant support will be excluded from checkout. | E-commerce flow, subscriptions, top-ups |
Standard ⏱ | Standard SEPA. Universal cover, including business accounts. | Billing, High amounts, B2B |
Flex 🔀 | Optimised routing: Instant when conditions permit, Standard in all other cases. Maximises the acceptance rate. | Mixed audiences, B2B/B2C |
Flex is only available for acquiring accounts. External accounts can't access this policy.
3. Payment confirmation
Payment confirmation is now a separate setting within the policy. It determines at what point a payment is considered confirmed in your system.
Level | How it works | Availability |
Authorised | Confirmation will be sent as soon as the bank has authorised the transaction. The funds have not yet been credited to your account. | All the accounts |
Received | Confirmation will only be given upon actual receipt of the funds. No payment is confirmed until the funds are available. | Acquiring accounts only |
With the Authorised level, your system receives a payment confirmation before the funds are actually credited to your account. In the vast majority of cases, the funds arrive within seconds (Instant) or within 1 to 2 working days (SEPA). This service is suitable for recurring payments and small amounts. In rare cases, a bank authorisation may be granted without the funds ultimately being received. Fintecture cannot be held liable in such cases.
With the Received level, no confirmation is issued until the funds have actually been received in the purchase account. This setting is recommended for large amounts. For instant transfers, it may take a few extra seconds before the confirmation is sent.
4. What's changing according to your profile
You have your own bank account (external account)
Payment confirmation is set to ‘Authorised’: it is issued as soon as the bank authorisation is granted, before the funds are actually received. This behaviour was already in place prior to this update and remains unchanged following the migration.
In rare cases, a bank authorisation may not result in the funds being received. A payment confirmation therefore does not constitute an absolute guarantee that the funds will be received.
You have an acquiring account (Fintecture bank account)
A new setting is now available: the payment confirmation level. You can choose between ‘Authorised’ and ‘Received’ depending on your business needs.
Recommended action: set your confirmation level before 4 September 2026. If no selection is made, the same level you currently have will be applied automatically.
5. How to change my configuration
The update to your configuration will be available shortly via your console.
Once it is available, here’s what to do:
Log into your Fintecture console
Go to Shops or Developers > Applications from the side menu
Look out for the ‘Update’ label displayed on the shops and apps affected by the migration
Click on the shop or app you want to set up
Go to the Payment tab
The two fields to be configured are labelled ‘Update’: select your choice from the drop-down menu for each one
Click 'Save changes'
The changes take effect immediately for new payments. Existing payments are not affected.
6. The automatic migration on 4 September 2026
If you do not make any changes before 4 September 2026, your settings will be automatically updated :
Payment policy : migration to the policy that most closely matches your current configuration.
Payment confirmation (acquiring accounts only) : the same level you currently have will be applied by default.
No service disruption is expected during this migration. You will be able to change your settings at any time after the switchover date.
7. Q&A
Will my current payments be affected by the migration?
No. The migration applies only to new payments initiated after 4 September 2026. Payments already in progress will follow the configuration in force at the time they were initiated.
Can I change my configuration after the migration ?
Yes. You can freely adjust your settings from among the new policies available for your account type.
I don't know which policy to choose. What to do ?
Please contact our support team at support@fintecture.com : we will help you identify the configuration best suited to your business.
What's the "Received" confirmation level changes for me ?
With this level, your system will only receive payment confirmation once the funds are actually available in your account. For Instant transfers, this usually takes a few seconds. For SEPA transfers, confirmation may take up to 1–2 working days after the payment is initiated.
A very small number of banks do not support Instant Transfer. Which ones?
The list is available in our dedicated article. The only notable exception in France is LCL for business accounts that make payments.
What's happening if I don't change anything before September 4th 2026 ?
Your configuration will be automatically migrated to the policy that most closely matches your current configuration. For acquisition accounts, the ‘Received’ confirmation level will be applied by default. No service disruption is expected.
